Method 1: Reset Windows Spotlight Feature

Resetting the feature on the computer will help with fixing the issue, all the files related to the features get to refresh and this will enable the feature. In this method, the Run command tool will be used to run some commands that will help with resetting the spotlight feature.

  • To reset the Windows spotlight feature, open the Settings application by pressing the Windows key and the I key on the keyboard.
  • In the settings application, navigate to the personalization option.
  • Here, from the right window pane choose the lock screen option.
  • Now, in the left window pane, you will find an option background, click on the dropdown menu under the background option. 
  • From the drop-down menu choose either picture or slideshow.

  • In the text field enter “ %USERPROFILE% /AppData\ Local\ Packages\ Microsoft.Windows. ContentDelivery Manager_cw5n1h2txyewy\ LocalState\Assets”.
  • The path mentioned will be opened in Windows Explorer.
  • Now, you have to press the Control button and the A key on the keyboard to select all the files. Now, delete the selected files by pressing the shift button and the delete key on the keyboard.
  • Once done with deleting the files.
  • Open the Run command tool and enter “ %USERPROFILE%/AppData\ Local\Packages\ Microsoft.Windows. ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy \Settings” and hit enter.
  • Now, rename the settings.bat file to settings.dat.bak.
  • Now, rename the roaming.lock to roaming.lock.bak.
  • Now, exit the Windows explorer and then open the settings application, here navigate to the personalization settings, here go to the lock screen option and then select the Spotlight option from the dropdown menu.
  • Now press the Windows key and the L key to lock the computer to check for the function of the spotlight feature.

Method 2: Use PowerShell to Reset the Windows Spotlight Feature

  • To reset the Windows spotlight feature, open the Settings application by pressing the Windows key and the I key on the keyboard.

  • Now, in the left window pane, you will find an option background, click on the dropdown menu under the background option.

  • The above code will reset the Windows Spotlight feature.
  • Now, once done, open the settings and re-enable the spotlight feature by going to the lock screen option in the personalization settings and selecting the spotlight option from the dropdown menu.
